MUNCIE, Ind. -- The mayor of Muncie has considered a $3.5 million plan to help Muncie Community Schools make their way out of a financial crisis.

The emergency manager appointed by the State of Indiana, Steve Wittenauer, said he is working with the mayor to put a plan together.

However, Wittenauer said he’s given the mayor two school projects to look at helping with including heating and air conditioning work at Central High School and South View Elementary School, which are expected to cost more than $3.5 million.

It’s not yet clear where the city would get the funds.
