One person killed, another seriously injured after being hit by vehicle near Anderson grocery store

ANDERSON, Ind. -- One person is dead and a second person was seriously injured when they were hit by a truck in Anderson Thursday evening. 

Anderson Police Department officers were called to SR 9 in front of the Pay Less supermarket around 7:45 p.m.

Police say two people were crossing the four-lane road when they were hit by a truck. Nancy Shaw, 50, of Anderson was pronounced dead at the scene. Melissa Spradlin, 29, Anderson was taken to the hospital in serious condition. 

Police say the driver of the truck, Bryant Keesling, 47, of Anderson did stop and is cooperating with the investigation. Keesling told police he did not see the two walk in front of him.

Police said they do not believe drugs or alcohol are factors in the incident.

The accident remains under investigation by the Anderson Police Department.
