NASHVILLE — The Purdue Boilermakers played some impressive games during the 2018 season.

The Music City Bowl in Nashville was not one of them.

Purdue was routed by Auburn of the Southeastern Conference 63-14, finishing its season with a 6-7 record.

The Tigers were in control from the start, leading by 21 points after one quarter and 49 at the half.

Auburn’s 63 points was the most ever by a Southeastern Conference team in a bowl game, and it was the most lopsided loss by a Purdue team in 19 bowl games.

Tiger quarterback Jarrett Stidham passed for 373 yards and five touchdowns.

Three of his throws were touchdown passes to Darius Slayton for 160 yards.

Auburn had 586 total yards to just 263 for the Boilermakers.

Receiver Rondale Moore was one bright spot for Purdue with 94 yards.

Purdue’s 2018 season was marked by ups and downs.

The Boilermakers lost their first three games, then won four straight, including a memorable victory over Ohio State, ranked second in the country at the time.

Then, after losing three of four games, Purdue became bowl eligible with a 28-21 win over Indiana.

Now, the Boilers turn their attention to the 2019 season, which opens August 31st at Nevada.
