INDIANAPOLIS — The driver of a tanker truck that overturned and exploded on I-70 last month has died, more than two weeks after the devastating crash.

Jeffrey "Duke" Denman was hauling roughly 4,000 gallons of jet fuel when his truck overturned for an unknown reason on the I-70 ramp at I-465 on February 20.

A spokesperson for Eskanazi Health said Denman passed away Saturday morning.

Family members said Denman had burns covering 70-80% of his body following the explosion, and had extensive damage to his lungs and other parts of his body.

He was being treated at the Richard Banks Burn Center at Eskenazi Health and had undergone multiple surgeries.

"Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. It is a sad day for the Jet Star family and all that knew “Duke”. Our deepest condolences to the Denman family and all of Dukes friends.
