PERU — The first round of layoffs for Schneider Electric as they transition the work to Mexico and other plants will begin in July.

According to WARN Notice filed by the company last month, 32 employees will be laid off on or around July 12.

Schneider Electric announced back in February that they would be transferring all of their production out of the facility in Peru by the end of 2019.

"Production will shift to Schneider Electric’s U.S.-based facility in Texas and one other East Coast plant yet to be determined, as well as its Monterrey, Mexico plant," the company said in a press release. "The changes are in response to competitive market dynamics and to meet the needs of Schneider Electric’s customers."

Schneider employs roughly 300 people in Peru.

Additional layoffs will come at a later date, according to the company, although those dates have not been set.
