Flags to be flown at half-staff Thursday in Marion County for IMPD officer Breann Leath

INDIANAPOLIS — Flags will be flown at half-staff Thursday in Marion County in honor of fallen Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Officer Breann Leath.

Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb said flags should be flown at half-staff from sunset to sunrise the day of Leath's funeral Thursday. He also asked Marion County businesses and residents to lower their flags to half-staff.

Leath, 24, was shot and killed April 9 during a domestic disturbance call in the 1800 block of Edinburge Square. Another woman was injured in the incident.

Elliahs Dorsey, 27, has been has been charged with murder, four counts of attempted murder, criminal confinement and battery.

Leath's funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The service will be closed to the public due to social distancing guidelines surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, but it will be available to view online.
