FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. — Four Hoosiers have been identified as the passengers in a boat crash on Tuesday near Fort Lauderdale, Florida, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
Just after midnight on Tuesday, the group of four ran into the south side of a Hollywood fishing jetty at high speed.
Two of the four were ejected from the 42-foot boat, one sustaining a serious bodily injury, according to the injury report.
The four injured were Daniel Towriss, 47, of Zionsville, Lauren Silagy, 32, of McCodsville, Jarret Silagy, 39, of McCordsville and Cassidy Rudman, 25, of Indianapolis.
Three of the passengers were taken to a nearby hospital, one with serious bodily injury.
The boat was attempting to enter the Port Everglade inlet when it struck the jetty, according to FWC.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Towriss is the president of the Indianapolis-based Delaware Life Insurance company. He and his wife purchased a waterfront mansion in Fort Lauderdale for $10.4 million in 2016, according to our ABC affiliate WPLG.
