INDIANAPOLIS — Four people suffered serious injuries early Thursday morning in a crash on Interstate 70 in Indianapolis.

Indiana State Police troopers and emergency personnel were called around 1:30 a.m. to I-70 westbound near the 75.4 mile marker, near Minnesota Street, on the report of a crash involving a pickup truck and a semi-truck, ISP Sgt. John Perrine said in a press release.

When they arrived, they found one person seriously injured and laying on the hood and one person trapped in the pick up truck, Perrine said. Investigators believe the driver, Jacob Martin, 36, of Indianapolis, was laying on the hood and was not ejected. They were later taken to the area hospital with serious injuries.

The driver and passenger in semi-truck suffered serious injuries and were transported to an area hospital, Perrine said.

It is believed the pickup truck passed the semi-truck on the right side and started weaving, which caused a collision, Perrine said. Clothing from the trailer on the semi-truck spilled onto the interstate.

Investigators believe drugs and or alcohol were factors in the crash, but no arrests have been made, Perrine said.

The crash remains under investigation.
