MUNCIE — The Muncie Police Department is teaming up with Muncie Animal Care and Services to help collect supplies for the hundreds of cats and kittens at the shelter while also clearing out some of your parking tickets.

From now until July 19 at 4 p.m. the Muncie Police Department will accept cat supplies in lieu of money to pay for your parking tickets, no matter how many you have or how much they total.

Muncie Animal Care Services has had an influx of cats and kittens since the spring and they are currently overwhelmed with over 350 cats waiting for their new homes.

Donations will be accepted at the Chief's office located at City Hall or directly at the shelter at 901 W. Riggin Road in Muncie.

Some items the shelter is in need of include:

  • Canned food
  • Cat/Kitten food
  • Beds
  • Blankets
  • Litter

If you would like to adopt a cat, this is also the month to do it! Muncie Animal Care and Services is offering $10 adoptions for cats through the month of July. All pets are spayed/neutered, up to date on shots, dewormed and come with a complimentary wellness exam at a participating veterinarian.

Watch the video below for more information on how to pay your ticket with donations and how it will help the shelter.
