GREENWOOD — The only bowling alley in Greenwood is closings its doors, and Muncie has lost one of its bowling centers.

On its Facebook page, Royal Pin Southern announced plans to shut down on June 3.

Southern will be merging its operations with Royal Pin Expo, located in Beech Grove, at I 465 and South Emerson Avenue.

Leagues from Greenwood are being encouraged to transfer to Expo.

Still, the news is tough for bowlers in northern Johnson County.

Royal Pin Southern is the only bowling alley between Expo in Beech Grove and Hi-Way Lanes in Franklin.

At one time, Greenwood had two bowling centers, before Greenwood Bowl closed.

Bowlers in Muncie also have one less choice of lanes.

The Star Press reports Liberty Bowl has closed, leaving Muncie with two bowling alleys.
