FISHERS, Ind. -- The Fishers City Council voted unanimously on Tuesday to change city codes so that vaping and chewing tobacco will be banned from public property along with smoking.

The proposal was for changes to Fishers city codes to include e-cigarettes and vaping under the definition of smoking, meaning they would be banned wherever "No Smoking" signs can be found. The ordinance also includes chewing tobacco and snuff under the definition of tobacco, meaning they are also banned in city parks.

The ordinance previously only included cigarettes and pipes as forms of "smoking."

The council voted unanimously to approve the changes which will go into effect immediately.
