FISHERS, Ind. -- Former President Barack Obama responded to a Fishers, Indiana fourth-grader this week, after the student wrote to him for advice.
Students in a fourth-grade class at Thorpe Creek Elementary School had to write letters to people they admire, asking how to continue their success as they move into the fifth grade. One student named Alex wrote to Obama.
On Tuesday, the school found out Obama responded to Alex's letter.
In an email, Obama said:
Dear Alex:
Thank you for writing to me. I've always believed in the power of education to open doors of opportunity, and I wanted to respond to you to encourage you to continue dreaming big and studying hard.
Education is the foundation for achievement, and it is among the best investments we can make as a nation. You and your classmates are tomorrow's leaders, and your generation—in all of its creativity, ingenuity, and selflessness—gives me tremendous hope for the future.
I'm confident that as long as you stay focused on your education, keep looking out for others, and never stop looking for the next thing to learn, there are no limits to what you can accomplish.
Best of luck in the 5th grade--I am rooting for you!
