NOBLESVILLE, Ind. -- The Noblesville science teacher who risked his life to save his students after one of them opened fire in his classroom earlier this year has received one of the state's highest honors.
Over the weekend, Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb awarded Jason Seaman the "Sagamore of the Wabash."

The award is Indiana's highest civilian honor.
Seaman was shot while stopping a 13-year-old student who opened fire in his classroom back in may at Noblesville West Middle School.
Student Ella Whistler was also shot multiple times but is recovering well.

“Jason has been a person of high integrity his whole life – always putting others before himself, teaching his students to live lives of good character while always seeking to make his community a better place," Holcomb said. "He certainly demonstrated that yet again last May and inspired us all. Quite simply, Jason makes me proud to be a Hoosier.”
