HAMILITON COUNTY, Ind. – Residents are raising their concerns for safety after Field Brewing opened in downtown Westfield.

Andrew Umbraugh says the extra traffic and parking on State Road 32 is causing backups and making it hard to view traffic turning from East Street onto State Road 32.

“Most time what happens, a car will pull up to the intersection and as soon as he has a clearing of any sorts, they are gunning it to get into that gap,” Umbaugh said.

Field Brewing has two separate buildings. One is a restaurant and brewery and the other is a lounge and event space.

Jackie Dikos, who co-owns Field Brewing with her husband, says they wanted to be apart of the continued growth in Westfield.

“We wanted to have a big impact on our community,” Dikos said. “As much as it’s a dining space and a brewery, it’s also an investment my husband and I have decided to make in effort to enhance our own community.”

The brewery only has 11 parking spots on site but has a map showing people where they can park nearby.

Westfield Mayor Andy Cook says now that that Field Brewing is open, they can figure out where human nature takes people to park and see what the problems are.

“Some of these things we can fix in the short term,” Cook said. “The long-term fix is an upgrade plan we have, and have been working on for 10 years to upgrade State Road 32 through downtown.”

Cook said the master plan will add two parking garages in the area of downtown.
