NOBLESVILLE, Ind. -- A Hamilton County toddler drowned Monday after sneaking out of his home while his mother was in the shower.

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office was called to a home on Mill Farm Road in Noblesville around 1 p.m. for a report of a missing child.

Investigators believe a toddler and a sibling opened the front door of their home and wandered outside while their mother was in the shower. The mother found one child nearby but was unable to locate the second child.

Deputies later found the toddler in a creek several houses away and began resuscitation efforts. The toddler was transported to Riverview Health and was pronounced dead.

No names have been released at this time.

The incident remains under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.
