GREENFIELD, Ind. -- A handgun was seized and an adult and teenager detained at Greenfield-Central High School on Tuesday.

Greenfield police officers responded around noon to a person with gun in the area and put the school on lockdown.

Students say they were informed the lockdown was a drill, but then rumors started circulating that someone was outside the school with a gun.

"All of our schools, we're really in lockdown all the time. There's one entrance into the building. You go through an office. It's locked. We can lock you out pretty quickly," said Greenfield-Central Schools Superintendent Dr. Harold Olin.

Detectives say they determined that the incident involved a video of a 17-year-old on school property in a vehicle handling a handgun.

The 17-year-old, another juvenile, and an 18-year-old who were brought to the police department for questioning.

Officers say charges may be filed against the 17-year-old and the 18-year-old. The third juvenile was released.

The lockdown was lifted in about 30 minutes. District officials say at no time were students in danger.

The investigation is ongoing.

This incident comes on the heels of a school shooting in neighboring Kentucky on Tuesday that left two 15-year-old students dead and 17 injured. A 15-year-old student is in custody.
