Statewide Silver Alert issued for Hendricks County man cancelled

UPDATE: The Silver Alert for Eddie Overpeck was cancelled at 10:40 p.m. Thursday. Overpeck was found safe, according to the Hendricks County Sheriff's Office. Previous story below:

 

AVON, Ind. -- A statewide Silver Alert has been issued for a missing Hendricks County man.

Indiana State Police say Eddie Overpeck, 80, was last seen Thursday around noon in Avon.

Overpeck is 5'11", 180 pounds, with gray hair and hazel eyes.

He was last seen wearing a light blue denim cap, orange sweatshirt, white t-shirt and blue Dickie work pants.

Overpeck was last seen driving a white 1997 Chevy Silverado pickup with license plate D967HJ.

If you have any information about Overpeck, contact the Hendricks County Sheriff's Office at 317-839-8700 or call 911.

Here are the criteria for a Silver Alert in Indiana:

  1. The person must be 18 years or older
  2. The person must either be a missing endangered adult or a high-risk missing person
  3. A request from the local law enforcement agency must be received in a reasonable amount of time to ensure the alerts are timely and effective. The law enforcement agency must:
    1. Verify the disappearance and eliminate alternative explanations for the disappearance 
    2. Validate mental impairment through a credible medical authority; and
    3. Enter the missing endangered adult, and vehicle, into the National Crime Information Center database as an endangered missing person
  4. Sufficient information must be available to disseminate to the public that could assist in locating the missing endangered adult
