NEWCASTLE, Ind. -- A Henry County Sheriff's deputy was stuck by a methamphetamine-filled needle while patting down a suspect on Monday.

Sheriff Richard McCorkle says the deputy was patting down Danny Riggs, 57, on suspected drug charges when he was stuck with the needle.

The deputy was taken to the New Castle hospital for treatment and is okay but will have to undergo testing for the next several months, according to McCorkle.

Riggs is charged with possession of methamphetamine but will not face any additional charges for what happened to the deputy.
