HENRY COUNTY, Ind. -- The Henry County Coroner said Thursday that New Castle Police Chief Bradley Catron died from septic shock due to pneumonia and multi-organ failure.

Catron died unexpectedly on Dec. 18 at Henry Co. Memorial Hospital.

New Castle Mayor Greg York said Catron had knee surgery three weeks prior and then returned to work.

On Dec. 15, the police chief got very sick while working at a New Castle basketball game.

"Nauseous sick. He literally threw up three or four times and passed out at the ball game," said Mayor York.

Catron, 52,  left behind a wife and two grown children.

He had been with New Castle police for 29 years and served the last six as chief.
