MUNCIE — The historical marker in front of the old Ball Brothers Glass Manufacturing Company plant in Muncie is missing.

The Indiana Historical Bureau says they were notified by Minnitrestia on Wednesday after a woman said she normally drives by it once a month and noticed it was gone.

Installed in 2008, the marker is in front of the old plant, in the 1400 block of East Memorial Drive, on the southeast side of Muncie.

The historical marker and the pole have been missing for possibly more than a month now, Casey Pfeiffer, historical marker director at IHB, said. It is unusual when a historical marker's post also goes missing.

Muncie Street Department and Delaware County Highway Department crews have not had any construction projects in the area recently which would require the marker to be removed.

It is unknown if any other projects have happened by other companies in the area recently.

Muncie Police Department officers were notified and are investigating, Pfeiffer said.

Anyone who has any information on the whereabouts of the missing historical marker are asked to call Pfeiffer at 317-232-2537 or email cpfeiffer@library.in.gov
