UPDATE:
ZIONSVILLE — The gas leak has been stopped, the Town of Zionsville announced.

Residents can return to their homes and businesses in this area can be accessed. The gas utility company will meet those who were evacuated at their home or business in order to check everything before people reenter.

Those entering the Irongate subdivision must enter from the west side of the closure via Lexington Drive. Oak Street in this area will remain closed a little while longer as crews repair the damaged gas line in the road.

Original Story:

ZIONSVILLE — Multiple homes and businesses are being evacuated due to a significant gas leak in Zionsville.

The Zionsville Police Department says the evacuations are taking place in a 100 yard radius around the approximate area of 1640 W. Oak Street. It is unclear what caused the gas leak or how bad it is at this time.

All traffic is also being halted from Ford Road through Oak Street and to County Road 950 E. while crews clear the area and work to contain and repair the leak.

This is a developing story and will be updated with more information when it becomes available.
