Man and woman found shot to death in general store parking lot in Greentown, coroner says

GREENTOWN — Two people were found shot and killed inside a vehicle at a convenience store parking lot Monday evening in Greentown, authorities say.

A middle-age man and woman were found inside the vehicle around 6:30 p.m. at, Casey's general store, Howard County Coroner Dr. Steve Seele said. Both victims appeared to be suffering from a gunshot wound. Their relationship is unknown at this time.

Greentown Deputy Marshal M. Sanders found the two victims inside the vehicle after being called to check the welfare of them, Howard County Sheriff's Office Capt. Jordan Buckley said in a press release. There was no one else inside the vehicle.

At this time, authorities are treating the incident as a death investigation, Seele said. There is not believed to be an ongoing threat to the public.

The identities of the victims have not been released.

Greentown is about 10 miles east of Kokomo.
