INDIANAPOLIS – Hundreds of semis are expected to clog I-465 on Thursday for a “slow roll” protest against government regulations on truck drivers.

Organizers of the event say drivers will go between 45 and 50 miles per hour for two laps around I-465 on Thursday around 11 a.m. before moving on.

Indiana State Police Sgt. John Perrine says they are aware of the planned event and they are monitoring social media.

The protests have taken place in other large cities across the country in recent weeks. The group is protesting regulations set in place for truck drivers and pushing to make the trucking industry safer. That includes things like more training, hour-management and updated logging systems.

A nationwide trucker shutdown is being organized for April 12, but no official details have been released.
