INDIANAPOLIS — Detectives from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department located a missing mother and infant daughter on the city's northwest side on Tuesday afternoon.

According to Deputy Chief Chris Bailey, the 3-month-old was pronounced dead at the scene on the 2600 block of Stanford Court.

Officers were called to the scene a little before 3 p.m., where they found the mother and infant inside a vehicle. Indianapolis EMS transported the mother to a nearby hospital on unconfirmed cold related issues.

The mother is said to have been battling some medical issues, according to Chief Bailey.

IMPD Homicide detectives and the Marion County Coroner are on the scene.

According to a report from IMPD, Rachel McAfee, 36, was last seen Monday when she left for work. McAfee was accompanied by her 2-month-old daughter, Emma. McAfee was last seen driving a silver Subaru Forester.

The incident remains under investigation, police said.
