INDIANAPOLIS — An officer is in serious condition and another driver is critical after a crash on Indy's south side Friday morning.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were called to the scene involving one of their own at Keystone and National avenues around 8 a.m.

IMPD PIO Genae Cook says the officer was traveling northbound on Keystone Avenue and turning left onto National Avenue when an SUV flew through the light coming southbound and hit his cruiser.

Police believe the driver was having a medical emergency when he hit the officer.

Police say the officer was rushed to the hospital in serious but stable condition. The other driver was taken to the hospital in critical condition. No identities have been released at this time.
