INDIANAPOLIS -- A service dog that went missing near his family's west-side home last month has been returned.

Two-year-old Tonto -- a miniature pinscher-dachshund mix-- is a certified service dog who helps his owner, Sonita Dean, manage her diabetes by detecting when her blood sugar needs attention.

When Tonto went missing, Sonita and her husband, Bruce, were distraught over the loss, and thought Tonto might have been stolen. The family was offering a $1,000 reward to help find Tonto.

On Sunday, the family received a call from someone who said they did not want to be on the news and left Tonto in a parking lot in Speedway. Tonto's owners picked him up there.

Tonto lost a lot of weight, but the vet says he will be okay.
