INDIANAPOLIS — The list of non-stop flights between Indianapolis and the West Coast will get a bit longer next May.

That's when Alaska Airlines will add a second flight to and from Seattle. Starting May 21, a red-eye from Seattle will arrive here at 6:30 a.m. and depart for Seattle at 8 a.m. This "seasonal" flight will operate through the summer months.

The announcement came Monday from the airline and Indianapolis International Airport. "Alaska Airline's second daily non-stop flight to Seattle, which is a key tech hub, demonstrates the airline's commitment to helping grow connections to that thriving market sector and regions that support it," said Indianapolis Airport Authority Executive Director Mario Rodriguez. "It's connectivity with this investment mindset that continuously enhances the public value the Indy airport provides to the Central Indiana Community."

Alaska Airlines came to Indianapolis with a daily non-stop Seattle flight in 2017.

In recent years, city, state and airport officials have worked to bring additional non-stop flights to the West Coast. That effort has resulted in non-stops to Seattle, Oakland, San Diego and San Francisco — in addition to already existing flights to Los Angeles.
