INDIANAPOLIS—A 26-year-old Indianapolis man charged in a young woman's murder will be sentenced next month, after jurors found Lawon Browning guilty on all counts.
The verdict came down early-Friday following four days of testimony in Marion County Criminal Court.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, 30-year-old Jessica Whitehouse was found dead inside her home in the 4300 block of North Norwaldo Avenue on November 2, 2016. She had been shot several times. Police said her car, purse and phone were missing.
According to Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry, on the evening of the murder, a witness contacted police and reported seeing a man matching the description of Browning driving Whitehouse's vehicle. Credit cards and other personal belongings of Whitehouse were located in the same area by the witness.
Browning was eventually arrested when DNA and cell phone records connected him to the murder. He was charged with Murder and Robbery Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury.
A possible motive behind the young woman's shooting death has not been released.
Browning will be sentenced on August 23.
