INDIANAPOLIS -- A 12-year-old boy was hospitalized with serious injuries after a head-on collision with a semi. 

Indianapolis Fire Department said the boy was in a car with his grandmother and her granddaughter when they collied with a semi. The crash happened around 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of East Raymond Street and South Arlington Avenue. 

The boy was trapped in the car for at least 10 minutes until emergency responders were able to get him out. He was transported to Eskenazi Hospital. 

IFD says the 3-year-old girl was properly restrained in a car seat and was transported to Riley Children's Hospital with minor injuries. 

Their grandmother was taken to Eskenazi Hospital with minor injuries. 

The man who was driving the semi was taken to Eskenazi Hospital in good condition to be checked out.
