INDIANAPOLIS -- As Indianapolis Public Schools prepares to review proposals for Broad Ripple High School, neighbors in the area created a petition on what they want.

The petition was started by the Broad Ripple Village Association and calls on IPS to accept an offer from Herron or Polytechnic to buy the building. The association wants the building to remain a school.

"Broad Ripple is a thriving community but we have challenges like everyone else," said Colleen Fanning, BRVA Executive Director and City-County Councilor. "A strong anchor high school -- even a non-traditional model like what we're looking at now -- could be a game changer for this community,"

An IPS spokesperson said it has not opened the bidding process yet, meaning it hasn't accepted or turned down any offers for the building.
