INDIANAPOLIS -- Overdose Lifeline, Inc., held its 4th annual memorial charity golf outing on Thursday at Dye's Walk Country Club in Greenwood.

The Indiana nonprofit group is dedicated to helping people and communities affected by addiction and substance abuse.

The event was held in memory of people like Alex Plew, who was 22 years old when he died from an overdose.

"Our hearts just fell, you know, we felt like our world was crashing in on us and we've got a son who is injecting heroin," said David Plew, Alex's father.

"It's just tough. Because it was so unintended. He didn't mean to do it," said Taylor Kennell, Alex's friend and fundraiser organizer.
