INDIANAPOLIS -- Gov. Eric Holcomb says state officials still don’t know the full scope of Indiana’s opioid problem.

Saying Indiana has only seen the “tip of the iceberg” when it comes to the opioid crisis, Holcomb stressed in an interview with RTV6 the need to do more to educate people sooner.

“Unfortunately, our young ones are learning about drugs at home,” he said. “It’s not at parties like it maybe used to be. This is seeing it firsthand from parents or grandparents or friends at home.”

Holcomb says the state needs to develop a counter-narrative for children as young as elementary school to provide an early warning system for drugs.
