Indy Airport named best in the nation for 5th year in a row by Conde Nast

INDIANAPOLIS -- This may not come as a surprise to most, but the Indianapolis International Airport has been named the best in the country by Conde Nast readers for the fifth year in a row.

The airport, once again, received the award from the Conde Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards.

More than 400,000 readers voted on the airports they loved the most.

The travel website notes that the Indy airport has some of the best pre-and post-security food options and a smooth TSA procedure.

"IND has a clear runway to take the top spot next year, too," the site notes.

1. Indianapolis International Airport (IND)

Indianapolis's airport remains in the top spot for the fifth year running—another notable moment in a year of notable moments for IND. The airport hit a personal best in 2018, when they managed their highest traffic ever (4.7 million) in the second quarter of the year—no doubt helped along by the May launch of a new, non-stop Delta flight to Paris's Charles de Gaulle Airport. Given that it already has some of the best food options pre- and post-security (hello, Shapiro's Delicatessen) and security checkpoints designed to help people breeze through TSA procedures, IND has a clear runway to take the top spot next year, too.

The rest of the top-ten list includes:

  • Portland International Airport
  • Bradley International Airport
  • Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport
  • Tampa International Airport
  • Detroit Metro Airport
  • Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport
  • Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport
  • George Bush International Airport
  • Baltimore – Washington International Airport
