INDIANAPOLIS -- People who live near a Dollar General store where an employee was murdered last month are asking the company's CEO to increase security.
Brian Eure, 41, was shot and killed during a robbery on May 27 at the Dollar General in the 5400 block of Emerson Way on Indianapolis' northeast side. No arrests have been made.
"It's scary for people. People start feeling unsafe. This is a really good neighborhood," said Cac Diehr, Millersville at Fall Creek President.
The neighborhood organization sent a letter to the CEO of Dollar General.
"I'd love to hear back from them and to ask them what they're gonna do. We'd hate for them to blow us off. I know we're little and they're big," said Diehr.
Among other things, the letter said, "We would appreciate hearing the actions Dollar General is planning to implement to increase store safety for employees and our community."

Amy Hammes is a mother of two. She says she was wary of the store all along.
"I have shopped there once before, but honestly only once. I didn't get a good feeling there and it isn't typically a place we go," said Hammes.
Bobbi Ascensio says there was no visible security at the Dollar General when she worked there from March to August 2017.
"I got robbed at gunpoint twice. At 9:30 at night and the other was at 2:30 in the afternoon," said Ascensio.
There was an armed security guard walking around the exterior of the store on Friday. Ascencio believes one should be inside as well.
Diehr hopes the letter from the community will spur Dollar General to take action.
"We think it is inexcusable for him to leave his employees so exposed like this and his customers so exposed to crime," said Diehr.

At Dollar General, the safety of our employees and customers is a top priority, and we employ a number of safety and security procedures to prevent, deter and, if necessary, respond to criminal activity in our stores. To protect the integrity of these measures, we do not comment on them specifically.
We are cooperating with local authorities investigating this crime and ask for any future media inquiries to be directed to law enforcement as to not hinder their investigation.
