INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Department of Public Works was awarded $1 million in project funding on Tuesday. These funds are set to help improve selected neighborhood streets, sidewalks, curbs, and ramps on the north side.

According to DPW, Project ST-19-073 seeks to improve selected neighborhoods just west of the College Avenue corridor, generally between 38th street and East Fall Creek Parkway North Drive.

DPW's construction on the projects is expected to start this summer with completion being at the end of 2019.

Improvement of each street will include street base repair, removing and improving up to five inches of asphalt, bringing up to standard all sidewalk panels, street curbs, and ADA-accessible ramps.

Previously awarded funding in October from Community Crossings was set to help construction on resurfacing of Southport Road, from Bluff Road to South East Street. This project will be in April.

The funding for Project ST-19-073 is through a Next Level Roads: Community Crossings matching grant program from the Indiana Department of Transportation.

Both of these projects are part of the larger $126 million transportation capital improvement program slated for 2019.
