INDIANAPOLIS -- Drivers in a north side neighborhood no longer have to deal with an unusual roadblock now that city crews have cleaned up trash that was illegally dumped in the road.
People who live near the 2000 block of Alvord Street contacted RTV6 about illegal trash dumping. The area is just a block away from the Monon Trail.
Indianapolis' Department of Business and Neighborhood Services said it was investigating multiple cases of illegal dumping in the area. The cleanup had been referred to the Department of Public Works.
The city says a lot of the trash dumping goes unreported.
"Trash and illegal dumping is a challenge we face every day," the city said in a statement. "As the city works to combat the problem, we urge residents to help us by reporting any trash they see in their neighborhood."
