LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, Ind. -- Retired and looking to make an impact in your community?
The MSD of Lawrence Township is seeking retired adults who would be interested in tutoring 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade students at one of its elementary schools.
No teaching experience is necessary, and tutors should have a desire to help a student improve his or her reading and writing skills.
A post on the district's Facebook page says many volunteers love working with a student because of the relationship that is built between them.
The Oasis Tutor Training is scheduled to start on Tuesday, August 7th, and Wednesday, August 8th from 9:45-2:00 p.m. at the Lawrence Education and Community Center in room BB107.
A tutoring manual and a bag of materials will be provided to volunteers.
Anyone interested is asked to call Angie Merchant at 317-850-8105.
