Police detain carjacking, robbery suspect near Lafayette Square Mall

INDIANAPOLIS – Police are investigating after a robbery suspect stole a car with a woman and a child inside on the northwest side of Indianapolis.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were called around 4:30 p.m. to a business in the area of Lafayette Square Mall on the report of a robbery.

Police said a suspect vehicle rammed a police patrol vehicle, while being pursued, before taking another car with a woman and a child inside.

The vehicle later crashed into another car in front of the Lafayette Square Mall.

IMPD says some of the passengers were taken to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

At this time, at least one person has been detained. Police have not released their identity.
