One person killed after vehicle hits utility pole on Indianapolis' southeast side

INDIANAPOLIS -- One person is dead after a vehicle hit a pole on Indianapolis' southeast side Tuesday evening. 

Officers were called to the scene near the intersection of East Southport Road and South Arlington Avenue. 

Police a vehicle left the road and hit a utility pole. The driver was killed. Their identity has not been released. 

No one else was in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
