Person struck, killed by Train in Wayne Township

WAYNE TOWNSHIP, Ind. -- A person is dead after they were struck by a train in Wayne Township on Indianapolis' west side Wednesday evening. 

Emergency crews were called to the scene in the 400 block of Bertha Street between South Lynhurst Drive and Rockville Road around 8 p.m. 

A person was pronounced dead at the scene. No identity has been released. 

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers on the scene say they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident and whether the person may have intentionally walked in front of the train.
