Police find 124 needles from Tippecanoe County exchange program inside home, arrest 10 people

LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Police have arrested ten people inside a home they found littered with needles from the county’s exchange program.

Police arrested Roger Johnson, 68, for maintaining a common nuisance, unlawful possession of a syringe and possession of methamphetamine. Johnson was the only one inside the home who lives at the home on S. 28th Street. 

Police also arrested nine other people who they say were “visiting” Johnson. They are all facing various charges as listed below.

Police found 124 needles from the Tippecanoe County’s needle exchange program inside the home.

The Tippecanoe County commissioners voted in December to reauthorize the county’s syringe exchange program for another year.

The Tippecanoe County Health Department said the program had distributed 8,100 needles and collected nearly 9,400 needles as of November 30, 2017.
