INDIANAPOLIS — Finding a place to park has quickly become a major challenge on North College Avenue in Indianapolis.

Parking restrictions between East 38th. Street and East 66th. Street went into effect Monday, as IndyGo ramped up construction on its Red Line bus mass transit route.

To make matters worse, Citizens Energy crews spent the entire afternoon fixing a water main break at 52nd. and College.

The break forced the Aristocrat Pub and Restaurant to send employees home and close its doors ahead of lunch hour.

Owner Rick Rising-Moore was frustrated with the situation.

"I'm getting calls on the hour about where am I supposed to park. If you come in the daytime you see the street and you come in the alley back here and see that they are jam-packed and full of cars. I don't know what people are going to do, to tell you the truth," said Rising-Moore.

The lack of parking had people trying to visit businesses circling the block and parking far away.

"Luckily, Fresh Market was open and I just parked in there. I honestly don't know if you are allowed to park there or not if you are not going to the store. But I notice there wasn't really any parking spaces open around the place I was going to eat at," said Seth Blunk.

The accelerated Red Line work is expected to take four-months and crews will be out during the day, in the evening, on weekends and even overnight.
