INDIANAPOLIS -- A park on Indianapolis' southeast side is still closed nearly two weeks after it was scheduled to reopen with renovations.

IndyParks announced a plan to upgrade Sandorf Park back in April, with a reopening date set for September.

The current delay in reopening is because the city and a nearby school must come to an agreement on where new playground equipment can be located.

Susie Bandy, who lives in the neighborhood, is frustrated about the delay.

"They pulled equipment up and left the kids with nothing all summer. and now it's going to be a whole year?" she said. "That's not fair to our community, our kids have nothing. If you look in this area there's not a park or a place for the kids to go to."

A spokesperson with IndyParks said the park was originally supposed to open as part of the National Recreation and Park Association conference, which was held Sept 25-27. The park's reopening has been delayed until 2019.
