FISHERS, Ind. -- Dodging potholes is a daily battle for central Indiana drivers.

The damage they can cause to vehicles are inevitable. In addition to knocking your car out of alignment, potholes also can cause tire damage, suspension damage and more, costing drivers an average of $3 billion per year, according to AAA.

Specifically, improper alignment can cause uneven tire wear, poor handling and numerous costly repairs if left uncorrected. While you can't control road conditions, you can avoid the damage potholes can cause.

Steve Bredemann at Firestone in Fishers says after you reach your destination, check for damage to your car.
