One person killed, another critical after shootings on opposite sides of Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS -- One person died and a second person is in critical condition following separate shootings on opposite sides of Indianapolis around the same time Monday evening. 

The first shooting happened just after 7 p.m. in the 5900 block of E. Washington Street. Police say they arrived on the scene to find a man in his 40s suffering from at least one gunshot wound. 

That man was taken to Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition.

So far no arrests have been made.

Police then responded to a second shooting near the intersection of 34th Street and Moller Road. When they arrived, they found a man in his late 30s suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. He later died from his injuries at the hospital. The victim was identified as Ronnie Campbell, 38, according to the Marion County Coroner's Office.

A second victim was also wounded. 

Two people were taken into custody following a short pursuit.

So far no charges have been filed.

At this time police do not believe the shootings are related. 

Both incidents remain under investigation by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
