Universities offering assistance to Harrison College students after closure

INDIANAPOLIS – Universities are stepping in to help Harrison College students after the college announced Friday that it would be closing all its locations in Indiana, Ohio, and North Carolina.

Harrison College says National American University, which has a campus in Indianapolis, is the college’s preferred transfer institution within Indiana.

National American University said on their website the goal is to accept “as many of your credits as possible.” Students will be able to transfer into online degree programs as soon as Oct. 1.

University of Saint Francis in Fort Wayne, Ind. is offering The Franciscan Harrison Promise scholarship to former Harrison College students, according to a tweet by the university. The scholarship provides $10,000 annually in tuition aid.

“We were saddened to hear of the closing of Harrison College,” University of Saint Francis President Sister Elise Kriss said in a press release. “We understand how difficult this time must be for faculty, staff and students of Harrison, and this is one way we are able to assist.”

Harrison College said in a press release that their website will be updated with information regarding how to obtain a transcript, education partners, employee verification, contact information, official campus closure letters, and diploma and education verification.
