INDIANAPOLIS -- A water main break along Fall Creek Parkway will close part of the road near the Indiana State Fairgrounds through Friday afternoon.
Citizens Energy Group crews are replacing a 104-year-old water line near Keystone Avenue that broke last week. They say the repairs are taking longer than initially anticipated because of the age of the line, the weather conditions and the sensitivity needed to avoid other water lines in the immediate area.
The work will affect the far left southbound lane and two left northbound lanes through Friday afternoon. Other lanes may be closed intermittently to allow construction equipment to cross the roadway.
Because of the lane closures, those attending the Indiana State Fair should try to use alternate entrances to the Fairgrounds.
The Indiana State Fair offers the following suggestions:
- If traveling south on Fall Creek Parkway, turn west onto 46th Street and follow traffic signals to park at the Indiana School for the Deaf.
- If traveling north on Keystone Avenue, two alternative options are to turn west onto 38th Street and park in the South Lot just south of the Fairgrounds, or turn west onto 46th Street and follow traffic signals to park at the Indiana School for the Deaf.
For the best experience, fairgoers should use www.IndianaStateFairParking.com for updated routes, alternative transportation options and parking availability.
