WAYNE TOWNSHIP, Ind. -- The only leader Wayne Township Preschool has ever known is receiving recognition as one of the outstanding principals in the nation and abroad.
Kathryn Raasch is among 62 elementary and middle school principals to be named a 2018 National Distinguished Principal by the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP). Raasch and the other recipients were honored October 12th at an awards banquet in Washington D.C.
“We have often sung Kathryn’s praises for her leadership of our Wayne Township Preschool. This national recognition is very well deserved," Wayne Township schools superintendent Dr. Jeff Butts said in a statement.
Wayne Township Preschool opened in August of 2009, and Raasch has led the school the entire time. The school has 350 students.
“Throughout her career, Raasch has remained a fearless advocate for young learners in need, exhibiting a tireless commitment to ensuring quality early education in a state when preschool is neither guaranteed nor universally funded," NAESP said in a statement.
Raasch previously served as a teacher and administrator in Danville. She has degrees from Indiana University and Butler University.
