INDIANAPOLIS --  A grant has been approved that will improve sidewalks on South High School Road in Decatur Township.

City county councilor Jared Evans announced Friday the city and school district obtained a grant  totaling approximately $300,000 that will connect neighborhoods to schools, a park and the Decatur Township government center.

The project is currently in the design phase, and is expect to connect High School Road from Thompson Road to Decatur Commons, Evans said.

“We have a huge problem with a lack of sidewalks in our communities and this effort, while small, is a big victory. “It has also spurred some ideas for me for additional sidewalk projects, such as connecting this project all the way to Kentucky Ave. This is going to be a nice addition to another project that is currently in design, the Lynhurst multi-use project from Kentucky Ave. to Rockville.”
