Indianapolis McDonald's employee killed while on break

INDIANAPOLIS -- A McDonald's employee on a break was shot and killed on Indianapolis' west side Saturday.

Rheyshaun Roberts was shot and killed in a CVS parking lot near 16th Street and Tibbs Avenue around 10 p.m. Roberts was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but later died from his injuries.

He worked at the nearby McDonald's and was on a break at the time of the shooting.

The franchise owner released the following statement:

"We are deeply saddened and heartbroken to hear the news about the passing of one of our employees. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends, including the many people he worked with here at McDonald’s."

Indianapolis Metro Police say they interviewed a person of interest and that person was released.

No arrests have been made.
